Justifying Lies

It wasn’t really a lie, it was an elaboration on the truth.

It wasn’t really a lie, it was an exaggerated compliment.

It wasn’t really a lie, it was for her own protection.

It wasn’t really a lie, I was trying to make her smile.

It wasn’t really a lie, I was trying to inspire her.

“Haha. Lying. Nonsense. Everyone knows the truth hurts”.

“A lie is worse”, she thought. She said as much.

He flinched as if he had been hit….

Lies and truth blurred into one in his troubled mind. He found he could no longer tell the difference. He could almost taste the danger of it.
Hmmm, a white lie that is told to promote good. Who would have thought it could be so dark?
Secrets riddled the mind…. Eventually they would drive him mad.
